OVERVIEW |

With all the talk of Public Liability Insurance, we thought we should let you
know how the Club and it's assets are protected. We currently carry two
policies, and then get additional coverage for our days at the racetrack.

PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE POLICY |
| |
BMW Club Queensland holds a Public Liability Insurance policy supplied by
Scarborough East Coast Insurance Brokers:
Events covered by the policy:
Normal club activities, including club meetings, committee meetings,
functions, social drives, technical days, Show-n-Shines, etc.
This insurance policy covers the Club and/or its' members for injuries to
people, or damage to property, where the Club or it's members are considered to
be negligent.
After payment of the excess, ($250) the policy will pay damages awarded up to
the sum insured ($5 000 000) plus the cost of legal proceedings.
Examples:
-
At a technical day, a bottle of oil is knocked over by a club member, and
a passer-by slips over in the spilled oil, and hits his head. He sues the
club/club member for lost income whilst recovering.
-
At a Show of Excellence, a member of the public is looking at brochures in the
Club's tent, when a gust of winds whips a loose rope, which flicks him in the
eye. He sues the Club for medical expenses.
Note: The Club is not protected from suits by Club Members under this policy.

CAMS Affiliation |
| |
BMW Club Queensland is a CAMS affiliated Club
Events covered by the policy:
Normal club activities, including club meetings, committee meetings,
functions, social drives, technical days, Show-n-Shines, etc.
This insurance policy covers the Club and/or its' members for public
liability to members, where the Club or it's members are considered to be
negligent.
After payment of the excess, the policy will pay damages awarded up to the sum
insured ($20 000 000) plus the cost of legal proceedings.
In the examples listed above, substitute a Club Member for the passer-by, or
member of the public.
Note: The Club is not protected from suits by members of the public under
this policy.
Membership of CAMS is also essential if we are to obtain a CAMS Permit to
run Driver Training at racetracks, which is a big part of our Club's activities.
